# Understand Read-Only Settings

Read-only access lets a teammate view permitted workspace information without changing it. It is useful for reviewers, stakeholders, or teammates who need visibility but should not edit leads, settings, connections, or permissions.

## What read-only access means

A read-only teammate may be able to view selected records and screens while actions such as create, edit, delete, import, export, or settings changes are unavailable. The exact restrictions depend on the assigned role, lead scope, and workspace configuration.

Read-only access does not remove the need to protect customer information. A user who can view a record may still be able to see sensitive data permitted by their scope.

## Check whether a screen is read-only

1. Sign in to the PloverCRM Web Dashboard.
2. Select the relevant workspace.
3. Open the screen or record you need to review.
4. Look for disabled buttons, hidden edit controls, or a read-only notice.
5. Try only a safe view action, such as opening a record or applying a non-destructive filter.
6. Do not attempt to bypass a disabled control.

## Configure or assign read-only access

1. Open the team, roles, or permissions area.
2. Select the teammate or role.
3. Review the current lead scope and entity permissions.
4. Remove edit, delete, configuration, or other unnecessary actions while retaining view access.
5. Review the resulting access carefully.
6. Save the role or user change.
7. Ask the teammate to verify that they can view the information they need and cannot make restricted changes.

Use a separate role when only some teammates need read-only access. Avoid changing a shared role without checking every assigned teammate.

> **Caution:** A read-only role may still expose lead information. Limit the lead scope as well as the available actions when the teammate should see only a subset of records.

## If you need editing access

Ask a workspace administrator to review your role and scope. Explain the specific task and screen you need rather than requesting full administrator access. The administrator can grant the smallest permission needed, if the workspace supports that option.
